Business Operations Manager

Our New Space team is looking for a self-directed Business Operations Manager with an entrepreneurial mindset that is willing to take on a variety of roles and tasks to help our New Space team achieve executional excellence within a growing market. The New Space Group has a start-up feel by design and serves a unique group of new customers. We work on new and emerging launch vehicles, spacecraft, and in-space vehicles in development. In this team leadership role, you will get to manage the production operations of the New Space team, participating in everything from strategic planning to ensuring the on-time delivery of hardware to the customer.
Day- to-Day Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the New Space Business Unit Director, this role is part of the New Space leadership team and contributes to team strategic planning with a focus on operational excellence in both our East Aurora, NY and Golden, CO New Space sites.
- Interface with Moog site leadership regarding facilities, EHS, OSHA standards.
- Collaborate with other Moog sites for maximum efficiency and performance.
- Lead collaboration efforts between business development and project teams to ensure the execution teams are on-time and under budget.
- Resource management for 7+ direct reports including manufacturing, quality, and supply chain functions.
- Production capacity planning between geographic sites.
- On time delivery to customers with specific focus on the operational excellence value proposition for the product families with a lean, value stream mindset.
- Review product family forecasts and awards and coordinate with New Space leadership team to ensure production planning and staffing resources will successfully execute the business.
- Participating in candidate searches, interviews and hiring of targeted talent.
- Manage capacity, work center and resource priority conflicts across New Space project production needs.
- Coordinate, develop, budget and manage capital needs for the product family. Coordinate priority, approval and execution of capital projects in accordance with the product family business strategies and Site strategy.
- Promotes LEAN transformation across the product family.
- Lead the design and implementation of improvement initiatives and processes/standard work that achieves our strategic goals for the work executed across New Space Sites.
Here’s what you’ll bring with you…
- BS degree in Business/Engineering or related discipline.
- 10 years of relevant leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience with lean based production cell development, manufacturing process development and improvement tools, Kaizen.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications.
- Possess situational awareness skills and emotional intelligence.
