The main focus of this position is to diagnose complex, difficult, long-term problem jobs and develop preventative steps necessary to avoid the recurrence of the problems in accordance with company quality standards. This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
Job Summary:
As the CMM Programmer/Operator, you will utilize innovative methods and techniques to facilitate process reconfigurations. To accomplish this, you must be fully aware of process qualification techniques and maintain knowledge of N/C procedures such as tooling packages, program conversion techniques, and process improvement projects to ensure optimum quality. An excellent understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques and the ability to operate and create programs on Zeiss CMM is required.
In addition, you will collaborate with Machine Shop Management, Quality Audit, and other Engineering functions throughout the problem-solving process. This will require excellent communication skills to bring sides together for problem resolution. Your time spent collaborating with these teams to develop process enhancements is the majority of the job.
You will also perform conventional inspection procedures such as setting up and performing precision inspections utilizing all forms of precision measuring equipment. Inspections will include first piece inspection and process evaluation of defective hardware and of new program conversions. A wide variety of inspection techniques are necessary including geometric tolerancing, complex trigonometry, and advanced blueprint reading. You must be proficient in using standard and non-stand gauging and must be able to work with or without operation sheets.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and operate Zeiss CMM programs to facilitate inspections
- Propose preventative actions necessary to avoid the recurrence of problems on complex, long-term jobs
- Develop and maintain positive problem-solving relationships with various engineering functions
- Perform a wide variety of conventional/traditional inspection operations utilizing various inspection techniques such as SPC, geometric tolerancing, etc
- Assist machinists in quality-related activities (use and care of inspection equipment, interpretation of blueprints)
- Assist suppliers in quality-related activities (interpretation of blueprints, validation of dimensions)
Basic Qualifications:
- Two-year technical degree with three or more years of machine shop and/or quality experience
OR
- Seven or more years in a manufacturing and/or quality environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least three years experience with CMM programming
- Experience working with an AS9100 Aerospace Manufacturer is highly preferred
