Moog Industrial Group specializes in high-performance motion control products and solutions for a variety of industrial applications including plastics, metal forming, power generation, flight simulation, automotive and aerospace testing, oil and gas exploration, wind energy, plus many others.

You will be responsible for circuit-level analog design, simulation, and troubleshooting in support of power supply and inverter applications.  Applications are highly varied, from low-voltage non-mains applications to high-voltage mains requiring active power factor correction.  Applications range from 50W to 10kW.

You will work in a team environment consisting of firmware, PCB, mechanical designers and be responsible for working closely with project managers to bring products from concept to production within tight schedule constraints. You will also support products through the complete product life cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret customer specifications and understand how the specification applies to the electronics design
  • Schematic design of circuitry for active power-factor correction from mains voltages
  • Strong thermal design skills
  • Electro-magnetic interference and susceptibility attenuation
  • Component selection/substitution along with documented analysis and testing for new applications and for existing applications
  • Work instructions for assembly testing in support of production activities
  • Troubleshooting prototypes and production issues

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering or similar with of 2+ years power electronics experience or Associate of Science, Electrical Engineering or similar with 5+ years power electronics experience

Required Skills

  • Working knowledge of common Office applications (MS Word, MS Excel, etc.)
  • Electrical schematic generation literacy
  • Circuit/subcircuit analysis
  • Control loop analysis and design
  • SPICE simulation
  • Analysis and design of DC/DC circuits
  • Analysis and design of power factor correction circuits
  • Ability to document technical information, such as engineering reports
  • Troubleshooting
  • This job requires access to US export-controlled information

Preferred Skills

  • Magnetics experience (transformers, motors)
  • BLDC motor and drive design
  • Regulatory environment (UL, CE)
  • Dynamometer operation
  • Firmware design (C, C++)
