Electronic Calibration & Maintenance Technician

 

Under the administrative direction of the Calibration Process Manager, the incumbent will calibrate, maintain, repair, and install a variety of electronic/hydraulic test equipment in an accurate, consistent, and efficient manner.  Job Scope: Incumbent will be responsible for the Calibration, repair, maintenance and installation of various hydraulic and pneumatic measuring and complex/digital electronic test equipment used in production, development engineering and laboratory environments across EA Campus (Aircraft, Space & Defense, and Industrial Groups).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Initiative to take charge in organizing equipment and order of calibration tasks to meet the needs of the Production team  
  • Plan, set-up, and perform required operations to calibrate, maintain, and repair electronic/hydraulic test equipment to manufacturers or customer specifications.
  • Diagnose problems and determine the extent of repairs necessary.
  • Disassemble equipment to repair and/or replace damaged or defective mechanisms or components. 
  • Test equipment after reassembling to verify performance, accuracy, and compliance to specifications.
  • Calibrate, maintain, repair, and install a variety of complex analog and digital electronic test equipment used in production prototype, development engineering and laboratory environment.
  • Calibrate electronic test equipment such as, but not limited to, oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital multi-meters, and customized test equipment.
  • Calibrate hydraulic test equipment such as but not limited to pressure, flow, temperature indicating and/or controlling instrumentation, etc.

 

  • Perform fault isolation activities and subsequent restoration of electronic test equipment. In conducting fault isolation activities, logically interpret fault symptoms and isolate problems to the lowest level component possible.
  • Research manufacturers’ literature or Moog drawings to obtain sufficient working knowledge of integrated analog and digital circuitry to thoroughly understand equipment theory of operation.
  • Recommend possible changes to calibration procedures to Calibration Engineer.
  • Assist with training and provides support to Metrology Technicians as required.
  • Work with a variety of electronic troubleshooting devices such as digital or analog meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, electronic counters, power supplies, etc. in performing fault isolation and subsequent repair tasks.
  • Review daily computer and/or manual calibration due lists to ensure timely calibration of test equipment.
  • Prepare records of calibration and log entries in AutoCal calibration tracking system
  • Accurately identify all items required for repair of an instrument and initiates request for purchase of these items.
  • Maintain an inventory of applicable spare parts to support maintenance activities.
  • Operate company vehicles or handcarts for transporting equipment and performing on-site calibration and/or maintenance in all weather conditions.
  • Work with analog equipment, some of which contain lethal voltages, with the maximum levels approaching 2500 VAC and 5000 VDC.
  • Work with minimal supervision from verbal instruction and/or commercially supplied operating and maintenance manuals in performing fault isolation activities and subsequent restoration of electrical ranging from valve drivers through sophisticated test instrumentation.

 

Basic Requirements:

 

  • Associates Degree or equivalent Technical Training in a relevant field and at least 5 years of related experience in electrical calibration, assembly, repair and/or maintenance

-OR-

•    High School Diploma and at least 9 years of related experience in electronic calibration, assembly,  repair and/or maintenance

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Assembly experience in the Aerospace industry
  • Experience and familiarity in heat treat and AMS2750 a plus!
  • Experience performing precision assembly and test of hydraulic, mechanical, and electromechanical flight actuators
  • Experience with precision measuring equipment such as dial indicators, calipers, and micrometers
  • Experience with diagnosing/troubleshooting mechanical components and test failures.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to learn quickly, work well under pressure, and lead others to do the same
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer program skills (Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook)
