We are currently looking for an Operations Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing and service engineers, improve existing processes on existing products, improve quality, assure compliance, reduce standard costs, as well as design and implement manufacturing and service processes for new products.  As part of the Operations Staff, assures achievement of KPI's, Strategic Objectives and Financial Plan for the site.

 

Core Responsibilities:

Individual Contribution

  • Develop automation strategy and plan for site.
  • Develop implementation plans and track execution of strategic projects.
  • Evaluate operations metrics and develop improvement plans.
  • Evaluate and improve business and quality processes related to the operations group.
  • Develop, submit, and track spending for CAPEX projects in the Salt Lake City facility.
  • Develop and present status reports to site leadership.
  • Develop training plans for direct reports.

Supervisory Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead the Manufacturing and Service Engineering team through the establishment of individual goals, monitoring performance, mentoring, training and providing regular feedback for all team members.
  • Resource planning, allocation and tracking related to operations engineering projects
  • Oversee investigation, and implementation of all CAPAs assigned to the Operations Engineering team.
  • Manage operations implementation of new products, including line development, transfer, etc.
  • Lead team to proactively identify and resolve production and service problems, field failures, customer complaints and process improvements.
  • Lead Manufacturing and Service engineers to compile, analyze and report the status of production and service KPI’s (rates, efficiency, costs, scrap, turn-around time, etc.)
  • Promote a culture that minimizes waste using Lean and Six Sigma principles. 
  • Lead the implementation of  material handling systems, manufacturing processes and equipment through motivating team members.   

Mischellaneous

  • Complete required training in a timely manner
  • Assist with other projects as requested by a member of management

 

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline (B.S.M.E. or B.S.E.E. or related field) from an accredited university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  MBA preferred.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt certification (Black Belt certification preferred)
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously within scope.
  • Experience with project management methodologies (Waterfall, and Agile)
  • Experience with Risk Management methodologies
  • Ability to resolve manufacturing and service problems.
  • Ability to develop, implement and/or improve manufacturing and service methods and processes.
  • Understand documentation, electromechanical assembly and manufacturing methods such as automated assembly equipment, manufacturing jigs and fixtures, etc.     
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Visio, Project)
  • Strong communication skills with all levels of technical and operating personnel, both internal and external, in person as well as via phone and email.
  • Ability to succeed in highly regulated compliance-oriented environment while still providing service excellence

Additional Skills / Abilities:              

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
  • Ability to apply statistical techniques such as process capability, Gage R&R, ANOVA, Design of Experiments, etc.
