Production Manager - Central Two Facility
Moog Space and Defense Group is the premier motion and flow control solutions provider for the following markets: satellites, human-rated space vehicles, launch vehicles, missiles, military ground vehicles, naval vessels, and security and surveillance. Emerging areas of focus include metal additive manufacturing, blockchain for supply chain, sensor integration, and propulsion test facilities.
Moog is looking for a Production Manager to work at the Blacksburg Central Two facility,
located at 1213 North Main Street, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead Production Coaches- Ensure they drive Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Production, and Employee Involvement Goals
- Planning Production and Resource Requirement-Ensure production work schedules are optimized to leverage capacity, labor and material requirements
- Drive Continuous Improvement/Lean Manufacturing Initiatives- This includes 6-S, Gemba Walks, Standard Work, Cost Reduction Kaizen Events, Waste Elimination and engage the hourly workforce in problem solving and continuous improvement
- Maintaining Quality Control Standards- Lead the organization’s commitment to quality and ensure quality products are manufactured and shipped
- Maintaining Compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Requirements-Drive compliance with all OSHA and safety regulations. Maintain a safety-first work environment
Basic Qualifications
- Must possess a 2-year degree, plus 5 years of manufacturing management experience or possess a 4-year degree in an engineering or business discipline with 5 years of managerial experience
- Possess a manufacturing background and 10+ years’ experience in positions of increasing responsibility
- Must possess strong skills, knowledge and capability in lean manufacturing techniques, management, leadership, and statistical/logical problem solving
- Experience developing/coaching hourly and supervisory staff
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Possess a high level of integrity, initiative and a “can do” / positive attitude
- Ability to work effectively with other departments to promote a collaborative environment of success
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others
- Effective coaching, facilitation, presentation, and team building skills
- Overseeing the daily operations of the production floor from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Organized, motivated and attention to detail
- Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
- Ability to motivate others, create accountability and to lead by example
- Proven experience in safety, quality, productivity and lean/continuous improvements
- Proven record of success
- This position requires access to U.S. Export Controlled Information
Preferred Qualifications
- Comfortable as a public speaker in groups of ~ 100 employees
- Ability to travel on occasion (less than 10%)
