Sector Finance Director, Aircraft Group Commercial Sectors

The Sector Finance Director has responsibility for finance and accounting activities within the Aircraft Group – spanning globally across multiple Sites, Business Sectors, and Supporting Functions. Key activities include Corporate Financial Reporting, Sector Financial Reporting, Operational Financial Reporting, Shared Services activities, Internal Control Compliance, US GAAP Compliance, Pricing, and Proposal Strategy and Compliance, Annual Budgeting and Forecasting, Long-Range Financial Planning, Finance Staff Talent Development, Group Cash Flow Management, LEAN activities, various Contract matters, Acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition Group Integration. In addition, the Sector Finance Director is a member of Aircraft Groups’ Leadership Team and works closely with Senior AG leadership in Strategy Development, Execution, and Reporting.  

In carrying out these responsibilities, the Sector Finance Director must be knowledgeable about the Group’s products, customers, operations, and strategies. The Sector Finance Director works closely with Senior Leadership within the Aircraft Group and also interacts with key members of the Corporate Finance organization on a variety of topics, including Taxation Issues, Forward Pricing Rate Development and FAR/Disclosure Statement Compliance, Hedging Activities, Property and Insurance related matters, Cash Management and Leasing Activities. In addition, the Office of Finance members will also periodically work with key members of non-AG Operating Groups and Internal Audit.    

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and talent development of individuals within the AG Finance organization.
  • Works closely with the CFO, Corporate Controller, and Internal Audit Director to help ensure that internal control policies and procedures are effective.  Is an active member of the Moog Finance Leadership Team (FLT) – under the direction of the CFO. 
  • Responsible for the Financial Reporting across multiple sites and multiple Sectors within AG, which includes meeting Corporate Financial Reporting deadlines, AG Sector Financial Reporting, and Operational/Functional area Financial Reporting.  Responsible for ensuring that AG Financial Reporting to Corporate follows US GAAP.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring LEAN policies, procedures, and activities within the Finance/Pricing organization.  This includes developing the LEAN mindset and related thinking within the management level team members. 
  • Responsible for the Annual Budgeting and Forecasting processes; ensuring that management is involved in and fully understands the financial commitments of the Aircraft Group.  Responsible for timely and accurate reporting on AG’s financial commitments across Sectors, Sites, and supporting functions. 
  • Works closely with Senior Members of the AG management team and various Sector and Functional leaders in developing, executing, and reporting on AG strategies and initiatives.
  • Responsible for developing and monitoring the Annual and Quarterly Cash Flow forecasts and Capital Expenditure plans
  • Works closely with the Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, and Director of FP&A during the Quarterly Financial Close process – to ensure that the close process is completed in an accurate and timely manner
  • Works closely with the Corporate Tax Director on a variety of topics – including, Transfer Pricing; Statutory Audit Coordination; VAT Issues; Royalty Arrangements
  • Works closely with the Manager, Government Contract Accounting to ensure compliance with our Disclosure Statement and to develop Forward Pricing Rates that provide reasonable estimates of future costs and help maximize the recoverability of our costs. 
  • Works closely with external auditors on accounting and auditing issues, with a focus on complex areas that require significant judgment.   

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA Preferred
  • Minimum of twelve years of progressive management level experience across Financial/Accounting/Pricing management. 
  • Significant experience in a manufacturing environment, Aerospace & Defense experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen – must possess a high level of financial and business management acumen. Must have significant experience with auditing/contract negotiations/budgeting/closing processes and be able to make judgments on complex issues. Must have a proven ability to participate in and help solve complex problems both within and outside of the Finance/Pricing organization.      
  • Strong communication skills are essential. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate within many levels of the organization and across many different functions. Must be able to facilitate and proactively direct change as required and lead an organization.
