The Design Engineer will apply creative skills to generate designs that fulfill the conflicting requirements of meeting performance goals, robustness over extreme conditions, minimum weight, awkward envelopes, and cost effectiveness.
Successful system designs will require work with internal and external customers to develop and refine system requirements. Conceptualize, model and design computer controlled mechanical/hydraulic test rigs. Development of system models of the test equipment and actuators. Analyze actuator control requirements and design PID or alternate control schemes to test the actuator performance in a production environment in the same manner it is used on target aircraft. Analyze / characterize control scheme gains and stability. Tune controls to achieve necessary dynamic performance. Develop architecture documents and system integration and testing plans and procedures
In this position you’ll be expected to:
1. Contribute to the development of new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel.
2. Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses.
3. Be a key contributor to the preparation of successful proposal designs, cost estimates, and technical volume write ups.
4. Operate as a key element in a team of creative, independent individuals.
5. Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its technical reputation.
6. Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program.
7. Document designs, analyses, and test results with accurate and concise reports.
Required:
- Minimum of an MS Degree, preferably in Mechanical, Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering plus 3 years of design/development engineering experience or; BS Degree plus 6 years minimum of design/development engineering experience
- Good sense of three-dimensional spatial orientation and seasoned knowledge of mechanical hardware design
- To fulfill the demands of design and development of new products the individual must have self-starting instincts and strong analytical skills
- Have solid knowledge of circuit design and a wide range of electrical components
