Cloud Data Engineer
Moog's Corporate Group is looking for a Cloud Data Engineer.
The Cloud Engineer (CE) reports into the Enterprise Data Analytics and Integration Team. The Data Team focuses on providing an enterprise standard and centralized approach around storing, maintaining and distributing Moog data and information on a global scale in an effort to provide more advanced analytics.
The CE’s main function is serving as an experienced technical resource for our Azure Data Platform. Supporting fundamental needs within Azure on infrastructure, networking, security, architectural solutions, data movement and data platforms. The CE will have a heavy focus on enabling the architecture and design patterns for future state warehousing leveraging Azure toolsets such as Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Power BI, Databricks, Data Lake Storage, Purview, Monitor, Integration Runtimes, Virtual Machines, etc.
In this role, the CE will focus on data ingestion patterns and transformations from multiple sources conforming to more standard data models. The CE will contribute to producing standard practices on the Data Platform to enable future growth in DevOps, CI/CD, Automation, etc.
You will be responsible for:
- Strategically synthesize, design, and implement data solutions and architectures to support core organizational functions.
- Serve as an experienced technical person for data solutions and architectures in relation to storage, governance, quality, cleansing and distribution.
- Provide design decisions around data warehouse assets that involve multiple disparate ERP and business systems.
- Design the infrastructure and processes for optimal execution of data transformation.
- Analyze the business-IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for data improvement (systems of record, differentiation and innovation).
- Collaborate with appropriate business groups (ex: trade compliance and intellectual property) when designing architectural solutions that determine data storage and access.
- Stay current on new technology and provide education and coaching to peers on data technologies.
- Ensure a quality level of technical documentation is produced and maintained for projects.
Here are the skills you will bring with you:
- Typically, Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical discipline (equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a formal degree)
- Minimum 8 years of programming and analysis experience
- Excellent written and verbal skills, problem solving, decision-making and communications skills required
- Ability to be able to work effectively within a team and inspire team members
- Strong data skills required:
- SQL and ETL
- Data warehousing, data lakes and lakehouses
- Data modeling, modeling analysis and integration

- Distributed data management or data virtualization
- Data governance, data quality and MDM
- Data storage, security and operations
- Experience in Microsoft Azure such as Synapse, Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks, Power BI, highly desired
- Knowledge in manufacturing highly desired
- Knowledge in Azure SQL, SQL Server, SAP HANA, DB2, Oracle, is a plus
- Knowledge in Talend, Python, .NET, is a plus
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer Associate, is a plus
This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
