Moog Aircraft Group is looking for a Maintenance Technician to install, service, dismantle, and maintain all types of Water Treatment, Heat Treat, Sandblast, Vac Cad Plating, and related process equipment.  This position is located at our aerospace manufacturing plant in Torrance, CA.

Maintenance Technician’s key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, layout, and perform required operations to maintain and repair equipment such as Vacuum Furnaces, Thermal Deburr, Vacu-Blast, Peen Shot, Ovens, Sandblast and various other types of manufacturing equipment. Required to understand the function of various equipment components such as vacuum pumps, valves, heating elements, seals, electrical and electronic controls, pneumatics, etc. Equipment repair typically involves routine lifting of heavy tools and components, proficiency with high voltage power sources, and the ability to work in confined spaces within an environment subject to nonregulated temperatures.
  • Preventive maintenance responsibilities include: daily observation and inspection of filters, switches, valves, pumps, belts, worn parts and related components; installation of same where applicable, and the ordering and stocking of spare parts to insure maximum up-time of equipment to conform to critical manufacturing schedules.
  • Maintain furnaces and vacuum vessels in primary working conditions to avoid the potential of damage to costly manufacturing hardware.

  • Order and stock spare parts to insure maximum up-time of equipment to conform to critical manufacturing schedules.
  • Properly use all required safety equipment such as personal protective equipment, respiratory protection, alarms, and follow all proper safety procedures.
  • Provide assistance to other trades within the Maintenance Department as required.
  • Equipment repair typically involves routine lifting of heavy tools and components
  • May be called upon for emergencies after normal working hours and on weekends

At a minimum, you’ll need to meet these qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of industrial maintenance experience
  • Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, vacuum and electrical control circuits, and the ability to read and interpret schematics of same.
  • Able to: use precision instruments such as Volt/Ohm meters, Vernier Calipers, Helium Leak Check Devices, and micrometers to diagnose trouble and determine extent of repairs needed; tear down units, repair or replace worn or defective parts; reassemble and test equipment for certification and production runs.
  • Must have your own hand tools
  • Must be able to work from verbal instructions and or sketches with little or no supervision.
  • Available for emergencies after normal working hours and on weekends
  • This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.

Preferred Qualifications Include: 

  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with pneumatic, vacuum and electrical control circuits, and the ability to read and interpret schematics.
  • Experience monitoring and maintaining steam boilers
  • Ability to use precision instruments such as Volt/Ohm meters
  • Experience with high voltage power sources, and the ability to work in confined spaces within an environment subject to nonregulated temperatures.
  • Strong customer service skills to interact with employees across the facility
