Project Quality Assurance Engineer (Moog Construction)
Moog is looking for a Project Quality Assurance Engineer for our new internal start-up business, Moog Construction. In this role, you will work with cutting edge technologies for the real-time control and introduction of mobile machinery. You will have the opportunity to engage with internal and external stakeholders to lead efforts to advance and launch this exciting new business. This opportunity is based in the Buffalo, NY area.
The new Moog Construction business unit focuses on the construction and mobile machinery industry. The goal is to address global macro trends for green energy, skilled labor shortages and increased productivity through technological disruptions: electrification, automation, and connectivity by enabling automation and electrification outside of the factory. This new business unit will pursue a portfolio of several strategic options including: Zero Emissions Systems, Advanced & Automated Systems, Autonomous & Special Purpose Moog Systems, and Digital & Cloud Services. This position will be focused on the development, launch and scale of Zero Emission & Automated Systems.
As a Project Quality Assurance Engineer, you will…
- Develop process capability studies and gauge capability studies for the development and implementation of statistical process control plans. Champion modification of design and process requirements through interaction with Quality, Design, Product and Manufacturing engineering personnel. Provide an assessment of key characteristics and key processes for product line models.
- Perform technical tasks such as product improvement studies and participate on Design-To-Cost teams. The use of analysis techniques such as SPC, complex statistics, capability studies, regression analysis and design of experiments will be required.
- Train and educate functional groups in statistical concepts.
- Establish and monitor Quality engineering project budgets and schedules.
- Validate design problem solutions by performing capability studies and analyses.
- Document statistical analyses of design and test results with accurate and concise reports.
- Consult on new product design development efforts.
- Assist in interviewing, training, and counseling subordinate Quality engineers.
- When applicable supervise subordinate Quality engineers and technicians.
Minimum Qualifications to be considered…
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- A minimum of eight years’ experience.
- Proven knowledge of applied statistics.
- Experience in design, manufacturing, and assembly of complex electrohydraulic, electromechanical, or electropneumatic servomechanisms.
- Both domestic and international travel required up to 30%.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Strategic, process-oriented mindset.
- This position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
Preferred Qualifications include…
- Master’s degree in applied statistics.
- Experience in Quality in the Automotive Industry
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA and other core quality tools
- Cross functional leadership and influence
