The Supplier Development Engineer interfaces with Program Management, Quality, and Product Engineering regarding supplier manufacturing and quality issues to provide guidance to our team and partners. In addition to providing production support, this role will support material estimating and design to cost (DTC) savings projects for development programs.

 

Main Areas of Focus:

* Support supplier risk management activities

* Participate in supplier selection

* Read, evaluate, and interpret drawings for machined and/or electronic components in order to provide technical support

* Aid suppliers in problem solving

* Travel (30-50%) to suppliers facilities to evaluate their capabilities, provide support and create partnerships

 

Requirements:

* Technical degree in manufacturing, engineering, or equivalent and/or relevant experience

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

* Expertise in risk management, quality, and supplier development

* Ability to access US export-controlled information

 

 

 

Desired Strengths:

* Electronics, motor, and/or other complex manufacturing experience

* Basic estimating knowledge/skills

* Root cause investigation and corrective action implementation experience

 

Other Desired Experience: 

* FMEA/PFMEA or other risk analysis methods

* Project management 

* Contracts and contract flow-down

* Leadership

* Negotiation

* Black/Green Belt or Lean/Six Sigma certification

* Trade/export and TINA/DPAS/FAR regulations

* Quality Assurance, auditing, and compliance
