Cell (Grind) Machinist- 2nd Shift
This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.

Cell Grind Machinist -2nd shift
As a Cell Grind Machinist, you’ll work in a machine cell where you’ll be responsible for the operation of one or more machines at a time, depending on production needs.
Responsibilities:
- Perform a complete range of operations on all types of materials on a lathe, mill, N/C mill, grinder, EDM, or on a hone or lap.
- Grind a wide variety of complex parts having either intricate recessing, interim grooving, numerous steps, tapers, unusual contours, to extremely close tolerances and/or a high degree of finish on two or more of the following type grinders: cylindrical, internal, or surface.
- Perform own set-ups to include: chucking and aligning of parts having irregular shapes. Select proper wheels, speeds, reeds, and operating sequence.
- Dress wheels for form, taper, steps, straight and unusual forms.
- Perform inspection of all work performed using sine bars, air gages, diatest, V-blocks, profilometers angle plates, and electronic gaging equipment. Detecting unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts; and recognizing errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
- You will be expected to operate machines outside your area of expertise and to deburr parts.
- Participate in the planning of work within the Cell and help solve problems occurring within the Cell.
- Work from blueprints, operation sheets, and verbal instructions.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required. Machining trade a plus.
- Over 1-year Machinist experience. (NOT SIMPLY MACHINE OPERATION).
- Must be comfortable setting-up and troubleshooting mechanical issues with CNC Machines.
- Must also be comfortable using various measuring equipment such as Micrometers, Calipers, and Dial Bore Gauges.
- Must be able to read blueprints and interpret written work instructions.
- Able to select grinding wheels, properly dress the wheel and run production parts according to drawing requirements.
- Prior experience using multi-axis CNC Mills or Lathes required i.e.: Okumas.
- Capable of holding tight tolerances associated with the machining of precision parts.
- Comfortable setting-up and troubleshooting mechanical issues with CNC Machines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Precision grind experience working with Geometric Tolerances (GD&T) and extreme close tolerances, typically .001 +/- .0005.
