Cost Analyst, Aircraft Group

Aircraft Group Cost Analyst
Reporting to the Aircraft Group Financial Manager, this individual is responsible for a wide range of accountabilities, including reporting and analysis of Aircraft Group financial data such as monthly sales and cost data as well as profitability, customer and customer deliverables, and investigations of transactions within the Moog Business Systems and SAP. Interaction with senior management of the company, its customers, and external auditors is required in fulfilling these responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities are dynamic and changing as the Company and its structure evolve, and as the environment affecting accounting and government reporting continues to become more regulated.
- Collect relevant accounting information, analyze and prepare monthly and quarterly financial data along with commentary resulting from variance analysis from Prior Periods, Plan, or Budget as part of the monthly closing process and ongoing review.
- Report on sales and costs detail by product in order to help ensure the division is meeting financial goals and highlight any areas which may require special attention to help achieve group goals.
- Report out on significant variances from budgeted departmental expense and labor distribution amounts to ensure divisional financial goals can be met.
- Prepare monthly financial statements comparing actual division performances to planned and previous performance in areas such as profitability expense levels and inventory levels.
- Support the preparation of the yearly budget process.
- Provide various reconciliations throughout the closing process.
- Assist in customer audits of proposal data where necessary and external audits of financial data.
- Prepare other data required to properly complete the monthly closing process such as backlog reports, value added, analysis of inventory levels and turns, and repair cost activity.
- Work on special projects and perform other ad hoc duties.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance, with three years experience in cost accounting / financial reporting.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to plan and manage daily tasks, meet deadlines, analyze, provide results and recommend solutions to various levels of management.
- Being proactive, creative, and innovative in solving problems and issues is a must.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, energetic and self-starter.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and experience in working with external constituencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and able to react to shifting priorities to meet business need.
- Ability to relocate to East Aurora, New York ( Western New York area).
Preferred Requirements:
- CPA License and Experience.
- SAP Experience.
- Demonstrated experience with SQL.
- Manufacturing and/or aerospace industry experience.
